British Soldiers' Human Rights Breached Over Faulty Equipment From the page: "Defence Secretary Des Browne will appeal a High Court ruling that sending British soldiers out on patrol or into battle with defective equipment could amount to a breach of their human rights. The decision by the High Court marked a groundbreaking legal defeat for the Defence Secretary and could have implications for military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The judge also said that in these cases families should be entitled to legal aid and as full access as possible to military documents put before inquest hearings. MoD lawyers had argued that it was: "impossible to afford to soldiers who were on active service outside their bases the benefits of the Human Rights Act". But Mr Justice Collins ruled that British servicemen and women were entitled to some measure of legal protection "wherever they may be"."

ABC News: Erasing the Pain of the Past From the page: " "I'd take it in a second," said Sgt. Michael Walcott, an Iraq War veteran, referring to an experimental drug with the potential to target and erase traumatic memories. Walcott, who served in a Balad-based transportation unit that regularly took mortar fire, now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Since returning to the United States two years ago, he has been on antidepressants and in group therapy as he tries to put his life back together and heal from the psychological scars of war. "There are moments," he said, "when you just want be alone and don't want to deal with everyone telling you that you've changed." There are many others like Walcott. The Army estimates that one in eight soldiers returning home from Iraq suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Symptoms of the disorder, once known as shell shock, include flashbacks, nightmares, feelings of detachment, irritability, trouble concentrating and sleeplessness." Kill innocent people, wipe their minds and send 'em back for more. What a loving government.

Guantanamo prisoner abuse From the page: "investigation by the U.S. Southern Command into allegations of prisoner abuse at Guantanamo Bay detention center has concluded that "insufficient evidence exists to substantiate the paralegal's allegations." But Lieutenant Colonel Colby Vokey, the superior officer to the Marine sergeant who filed the allegations, called the investigation "outrageous." "I am aware that the investigators interviewed only the suspects and some witnesses but did not interview any detainees or potential victims," he told ABC News. "Failure to interview those who may have been subjected to abuse is indicative of an incomplete investigation."" They would never admit to prisoner abuse. I never do personal story's, but on this occasion I'll make an exception: On my way back from uni I saw 2 police officers pin a black youth against a telephone box and then one police officer proceeded to punch this defenseless guy a least three times square in the face! Once back up arrived we where promptly moved a good distance away. On quizzing a uniformed officer on this he said "Yeah, it happens" I proceeded to tell him that you ain't EVER aloud to punch a suspect, EVER. The cunt half acknowledged what I said and walked off. I'm so pissed off with this shit.
